Cover Your Eyes

During this week's blizzard, I opened a second etsy shop.  Mr. Tallgrass and I brainstormed names for it, which was pretty fun considering this shop is going to showcase TACKY VINTAGE JEWELRY.

His first suggestion was "Circa."

"Circa" was already taken.  No surprises there.

Then he suggested "Oh My God, Where Did You Find THAT?"

Too long.  Probably offensive.

So he suggested "Night Train."

Not bad, but I didn't like how the Ts would run together: "nighttrain"

We tossed ideas back and forth.  Like "ReallyGaudy."

Then I found the perfect name.  Tragically Retro.

How else do you describe this?

I'm still listing "the good stuff" on TallgrassDesign.

Like this sweet magnifying glass pendant:

Or this sterling silver medallion with its great patina:

Even this funky articulated owl necklace.  I'm having a hard time letting go of it.

But if your are looking for novelty or gaudiness, go to TragicallyRetro.

Oh, yeah.

By the way, did you notice the model?

It's the mannequin I made last November.
And she's wearing my favorite turtleneck.

She needs to get her own darn sweater
(even though I own at least 6 black turtlenecks).
If you are a new reader, you can check out the play-by-play of her creation here.
